Help : Advanced Patient Search

Advanced Patient Search (accessible by clicking on the Admin drop down menu and then on Advanced Pt Search) allows you to generate custom patient lists by criteria that you specify, such as:

  • Patient's sex and age
  • Received services, or did not receive services, in the last __ months
  • Physical visit, or no physical visit, in the last __ months
  • Has any (or all - check "use AND statement") of specified conditions in assessment or PMH
  • Has been prescribed any (or all - check "use AND statement) of specified medications

You can search by multiple different criteria - e.g., for males between the ages of 45 and 65 who have not been seen for a physical exam in the last 12 months. OR you can search by keyword/phrase, which will search the text of patient notes and encounter notes for the exact key word(s) or phrase(s) that you specify. If you do not specify any criteria, you will generate a list of all patients in the practice (for example, for generating an updated mailing list of all patients).

Note that when searching by diagnosis or drug, the system will use an "or" statement by default, returning a list of all patients with either of the specified diagnoses, for example. Check the "Use AND statement checkbox to return only the list of patients with both or all of the specified diagnoses or drugs on file.

When you click "Generate this Report", the system will generate a list of all patients who match the specified criteria. You may click on a patient in the list to open that patient's dashboard page. If you check the box for "Export as CSV" in the Advanced Patient Search pop up OR click on "Export Spreadsheet" at the top of your results list, the list will be generated as a CSV file that you can open in Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program.

We can also create custom reports - for example if you have a relatively complex patient search that you will re-run regularly, or want to search for something beyond the parameters provided in the Advanced Patient Search.
